Redbull Rampage 2008 - Evolution - Day Three. RAIN RAIN RAIN
Posted: Oct 4, 2008
Rains have come, flash flood warnings in effect.
The event has been postponed potentially a day, or maybe even two. Hopefully it's sunny tomorrow so the course has morning to dry out before we can drive up into the zone again.

Instead a large majority of the riders and media ended up bowling. High scores in our group of Canadians included Tyler Morland with a 170. For those that don't know, we don't play too much 10 pin up in Canada, so that's decent for us, otherwise my high score was 145, pretty much dismal. Brandon Semenuk appears to only have talent on two wheels after bowling a high score of 80. Super.
Hopefully we'll be a lot more productive tomorrow.

If its any consequence, its raining here too!
yeah, wtf dbcg, of course we can speak English. I've lived in canada for 4 years, so i kinda got a bit more from that, but everybody else here can still talk english quite good
Yea, I ddnt know. I think it's really kool though. Like a lot of times I want to comment on people's pics or something but everythings in a different language and idk if they will understand. its kool tho!
You can go pretty much anywhere in the world and people will have atleast a little bit of english. It's really only in north america where we speak english but don't know any other languages. Other than some of eastern Canada where a lot of people are billingual and speak french and ehlish
thats right, "pretty much anywhere in the world", it just feels natural to know the language that u can use all around the globe
pity, the event had to be postponed. and it has also been raining here too ))
but hey, enlighten me - a score of 170 for Morland is good or not really?.. i only know him as a downhill rider

pffft the wind and the rain didnt stop anyone racing scarborough last night! I guess us brits are used to it.
They should have gone out and finished digging or something

yeah rain doesnt stop us brits! cos thats all we ever get just rain and more rain. i might aswell go and bath in some mud now. AKA riding
Well the rain didn't stop me but my shitty bottom bracket did, 4th run down the 4X it rounded out on landing the triple.
the difference between brits and the boys in utah are that the dirt is different. in utah, the ground turns to mush, and not a little bit, like a hell of a lot, as in you need a boat to drive anywhere. Deserts are harsh like that, its cuz there's no root structure to hold the soil together.

here at Blue Mtn. They closed, too due to bad weather and next week will be the last weekend for some DH riding.............I feel so depressed already, DH season is over for Ontarians! Ontarians, what should we do? Can someone pr some ones build indoor DH courses here.
The Dirt down here doesnt soak up water, so the water runs down into the gullies where a lot of the stunts end up. Plus, no truck would make the 5 mile road that goes through lots of creek beds and would be a sticky mud fest.
Anyways good news. Qualifying will happen this afternoon if the rains hold off.

It's been dry here for the past couple months and there just had to be a flash flood storm come through. That's southern Utah for ya. Anyway, it was really foggy this morning but it's clearing and looking to be a georgous day!

Anyone who thinks this is going to be a slope style comp is sorely mistaken. I have been down at rampage the past two days and can assure you it is 100% BIG MOUNTAIN! The slopestyle kids are working one line that is three times the size of anything they have ever hit, and it is the smallest line there. People are walking around looking scared to death.

we got nonstop rain over here in w.a. yesterday wich wasnt good because it was practice day for state champions. so the track turned to absolute slush. making one corner especially hard for me. and was even worse on race day because it was tacke and by the time i got half way down the track my brand new high rollers didnt help at all

So it turned out beautiful today!!! There was a breeze in the morning but it died out in the afternoon. The dirt was so nice and made for some smooth runs. Great riding today, but I think matt broke his wrist/arm. Couldn't quite tell what it was other than he held it as they walked off the course. Hope it isn't a major! Wish him well...
